Day 1 of Ocean Youth at the National Aquarium of New Zealand (NANZ) will see participants being introduced to the NANZ team, other participants, and the wonderful creatures of the aquarium with an exclusive tour through the centre including the wildlife hospital and behind-the-scenes!
Next, the group will spend some time learning about local conservation initiatives including the ‘Safe Cat, Safe Wildlife’ initiative. After lunch, the NANZ team takes a look at ecoanxiety and explore how participants are feeling in regard to the environment and the threats facing it – they’ll discuss some of the right ways to communicate conservation messaging to the public though multiple channels, marketing skills, and presentation skills to make a real difference.
