Young ocean-loving leaders will have the opportunity to create and collaborate on projects that will help our ocean survive and thrive into the future, as well as meeting other ocean loving experts and change makers along the way.
Kiwi Conservation Focus
Join this globally recognised initiative here in Hawke’s Bay, delivered by the National Aquarium of New Zealand, focusing on Kiwi and the diverse efforts going into conserving our most iconic taonga species.
What Does it Involve?
The Ocean Youth Hawkes Bay 2023 programme includes:
- Overnight stay at Guthrie Smith Tutira. Enjoy thrilling outdoor adventures and visit the Pan Pac kiwi crèche and Opoahi mainland island conservation area.
- Behind the scenes at the National Aquarium and learn how kiwi live and the threats they face.
- Visiting a kiwi breeding centre and see the first step in the national breeding programme.
- Learning from international marketing and behavioural change campaign experts on how to successfully design and implement your own conservation campaign aimed at engaging the public into action!
- Individual or group led final day presentations, highlighting your action ideas that will help our local kiwi populations and other native species.
