Our friends at The Ocean Project & World Ocean Day are offering this training series to build the capacity of youth to influence positive change for our ocean. It’s free and over a 4 sessions so you can squeeze it into your busy schedules 🙂 The timezones might be a little crazy as they’re based in the US but it will be worth it.
The training content will build upon and refine existing advocacy skills and encourage strengthened collaborative conservation action – locally, nationally, and globally. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and talk with experts, network and collaborate with their peers, and develop a strong foundation for all their future advocacy efforts.
The content of the training was developed by experienced leaders working in ocean and climate advocacy, with input and suggestions from members of the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council. Topics covered will include an in-depth look at conservation policy, advocacy & organizing, social media & communications, and event planning & fundraising.
Participants will meet for one-hour weekly sessions via Zoom, on Saturdays starting 29 April through 20 May. The program schedule is as follows:
Session 1: Conservation Policy in Action – Saturday, 29 April
Session 2: Effective Campaign Organizing – Saturday, 6 May
Session 3: Social Media & Communications – Saturday, 13 May
Session 4: Event Planning & Fundraising – Saturday, 20 May
The times for each session will be released next week! The series will be recorded and we’ll be sharing those recordings once released.
We encourage candidates to attend all four sessions to get the full benefit of the training. We ask anyone registering to prioritize attending the sessions live, but session recordings will be publicly available one day after each session.
