It’s Plastic Free July time!

We’re hearing more and more about the impacts of our plastic waste landing in our oceans, waterways, rain (yes rain!) and even our food and water. It’s having a devastating impact upon our marine wildlife, and if it’s landing in our food and water, it’s likely not so great for us either.

It can seem like an overwhelming challenge, especially now mid-pandemic where we’re seeing so much single-use litter – takeaway coffee cups, drink containers and straws as people go on their exercise in lockdown, food containers and cutlery as people order takeaway, & those dreaded single-use masks. They’re everywhere. Once you start looking you’ll see the scale of the problem. We hear it all the time “what can I do to make a difference, I’m just one person”. But one person can make an enormous difference.

If you’re itching to make a difference but not sure how taking the Plastic Free July challenge is the perfect place to start. PFJ’s website has a huge bunch of resources, tips and tricks to help you get started. Just starting with one item, like using a reusable drink bottle can be the catalyst. You’ll see how easy it can be. Why not combine it with a Take3 for the Sea challenge and pick up 3 pieces of rubbish when you’re out next. You’ll begin to see very quickly how you can make a huge difference. And if you convince your mates to join you, well there’s no stopping us!

Take the PFJ challenge today and be part of a growing movement to secure the health of our oceans and planet. And don’t forget to #plasticfreejuly2021 when you share all the good stuff you’re doing  : )
