DAY 1 - SHOWCASING SOLUTIONS FOR OUR OCEAN
Day 1 is about sharing stories and solutions in the sustainability space to secure a healthy ocean for us all. You’ll hear from a range of youth leaders and industry experts about choices we can all make for a healthier ocean and brighter future. The afternoon will provide an opportunity to check out some workshops by organisations trying to tackle plastic pollution, biodiversity monitoring, overfishing, and other fun activities.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Morning:
Introduction to the Sustainable Ocean Plan, Jordan Dwyer
Keynote speaker by Young Australian of the Year 2023, Lottie Dalziel.
Midday:
Two panels showcasing the journeys of youth led solutions, and how the choices you make around food, fashion and finance can change the world, for good or bad.
We’ll also be showcasing some of the jobs and skills that are developing in the Blue, Green and Clean Economies.
Afternoon:
A range of interactive workshops around ocean research, wildlife advocacy, plastic pollution solutions, STEM, and student sustainability networks that will provide deeper insights into our beautiful OceanEarth, who we share it with and what you can do to help it.

DAY 2 - OCEAN YOUTH IN ACTION
Day 2 is about taking action!
Students will be creating solutions to some of the wicked problems affecting ocean health. Think of it like a type of fun hackathon. We’ll be working collaboratively with a range if industry experts and each other to come up with ideas, test them out and hone our communications to get ready to influence our friends, families and school communities.
This day is suited to environmental clubs, SRCs, youth leader groups, STEM clubs and anyone else who is ready to roll up their sleeves, collaborate with new people and learn how to turn their ideas into action.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Morning:
Keynote speakers with Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water and Kal Glanznig, Young Australian of the Year, Sutherland Shire and Plastic Free Cronulla.
Midday:
The ideation process to identify solutions for sustainable ocean health with Elisa-Marie Dumas, Ocean Impact Organisation and Mark Rowland, Founder of the Greenhouse Tech Hub.
Afternoon:
Collaborate, communicate and celebrate youth created solutions to create positive Waves of Change for our ocean!
